The 2024 Premier League summer transfer window has long since slammed shut and clubs in England’s top flight must now wait until January before adding any more new players.

This past summer saw Premier League clubs take a more measured approach to transfers, with many teams bypassing PSR by selling homegrown talents.

The era of €100 million+ moves may already be over, if the 2024 summer window is anything to go by, although clubs will continue to spend huge sums on new signings.

Chelsea were once again at the forefront of all transfer activity in England and their ambitious strategy under Clearlake Capital shows no signs of slowing down.

However, Tottenham Hotspur boasted the most expensive signing of the summer, with Dominic Solanke arriving from Bournemouth for an initial €64.3m.

Leny Yoro (to Manchester United), Pedro Neto (to Chelsea) and Amadou Onana (to Aston Villa) also moved clubs for huge fees, while Manchester City sold Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid for an upfront fee of €75m.

Spending during the 2024 January transfer window was far more limited, although things could change in 2025.

There are already a number of confirmed transfers ahead of January. Southampton have announced Japanese forward Renato Takaoka and Brazilian left back Welington, who will officially arrive in January. Tottenham have confirmed South Korean winger Min-hyeok Yang.

Man City are planning to sign a central midfielder to replace Rodri, who suffered a season-ending ACL injury.

Man Utd also plan to strengthen their squad after Ruben Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag as manager. They want a left back due to the constant injuries of Luke Shaw. Summer flop Joshua Zirkzee could also leave.

Arsenal have been struggling for goals and could sign another attacker in January to reignite their title chances.
