Victor Osimhen has two release clauses that could see him sold by Napoli in the near future.

Chelsea, Arsenal and PSG are just three of the sides that are still interested in the Nigeria international, who was the subject to huge speculation in the summer only to wind up at Galatasaray on loan due to Napoli’s insistence that his release clause of €130 million was met.

Crucially, there is a break clause in the Galatasaray deal that could be triggered as soon as January, Rai Sport (via TMW) has reported. This could see Osimhen depart for a cut-price deal that is likelier to be of interest to the teams who have been chasing him.

According to the Italian report, the hitman will be able to depart Napoli for €90m in January, with some of that money heading to Galatasaray as compensation for the early termination of the loan deal.

Next summer, the situation changes a little. His contract with Napoli will automatically renew until 30 June, 2027, but the kicker is that his release clause will shrink to just €75m – nearly half of what it was in the transfer window just past.

One crucial point in the contract is that these release clauses only apply to foreign clubs. This spells bad news for the likes of Juventus, who had been looking at Osimhen as a potential replacement for Dusan Vlahovic. In all likelihood, the Nigerian will be financially out of their reach as a consequence.

Osimhen chase set to heat up

Should Osimhen remain contracted with Napoli to next summer, he will become a bargain.

Osimhen’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €71.1m, which is just a little short of his career high of €81m.

A release clause of €75m, meanwhile, would allow clubs that typically pay a premium to sign such high-quality players to do so at market value.

Osimhen, then, promises to become a unique opportunity for the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal or PSG to sign a world-class striker who guarantees goals for a fair price.
