Victor Osimhen may have moved to Galatasaray on loan in recent days, but the Napoli striker continues to plan for his long-term future.

Osimhen had expected to land a move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs this season, yet he finds himself in the Turkish Super Lig at a club that failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Interest from numerous major teams remains, though. Chelsea are said to be monitoring the forward intently, while neither PSG nor Arsenal, who were also linked with him during the summer, completed a move for a No.9.

Now Fabrizio Romano has weighed in on what the future holds for the player.

He has explained via the Daily Briefing: “Napoli will have the opportunity to extend the contract but with a new release clause. Victor Osimhen’s previous one was €130 million, and that caused problems this summer when trying to find a solution for the player.

“PSG were interested in Osimhen in July but they were never going to pay €130m.

“Starting from 2025 when Napoli can activate the option to extend the contract, the clause will reduce to €75m, which sends a very clear message to all the clubs still interested in Victor Osimhen.”

January transfer for Osimhen?

Although Osimhen has been sent to Galatasaray for the year, a break clause in the loan agreement with the Turkish side means that Napoli will be able to recall him in January, which would allow him to be sold.

The 25-year-old Nigeria international, meanwhile, has made it clear that he will not reduce his €11m-per-year salary with Napoli, where he is under contract until 2026.

This prevented him from making a Deadline Day loan move to Chelsea, who were some €100,000 per week off the demands of the No.9, according to reports.

Osimhen, meanwhile, has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €71.7m, which is in line with the potential new release clause if Napoli take up their option to extend his contract.
