Florian Wirtz will sign for Real Madrid, according to ex-Bayern Munich director Michael Reschke.

The Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid will be one of the protagonists of the 2025 summer transfer window. Wirtz is one of Europe's most in-form attackers and has been for over 12 months.

After leading Bayer 04 to a Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double last term, the 21-year-old has picked up right where he left off, already boasting six goals and an assist so far this season.

Wirtz is still under contract until 2027, but it is expected that he, like head coach Xabi Alonso, will depart Leverkusen next year, which has put all of Europe's top clubs on alert.

Real Madrid to sign Wirtz?

Bayern Munich have been courting Wirtz since 2020 and will launch a major transfer offensive for him next summer, having made him their top target. Arsenal have recently been linked as well, but this association has already been played down.

Real Madrid also appears a realistic destination for him as they are tipped to raid Leverkusen for Alonso next summer and some in the media believe that it is almost a foregone conclusion that Wirtz will follow his coach to his next club.

One of the people convinced that Wirtz will eventually ply his trade for Los Blancos is former Bayern technical director Michael Reschke. "Bayern Munich is one of the top-five clubs in Europe. It's obvious that Wirtz is contemplating a move," he told Sky90.

"My personal belief is that Wirtz will sign for Real Madrid. I think Carlo Ancelotti will be replaced by a certain Spaniard currently working in the Bundesliga and then it's certainly possible that he will take his favourite player with him. My feeling is that everything could fall into place.

Wirtz will be anything but a bargain regardless of who he joins. Earlier this year, Bayer CEO Fernando Carro let slip that he would demand at least €150 million for his most prized possession.
