The 22-year-old has six goals and five assists in just seven Premier League games so far this season, with four of his strikes coming in a sublime first-half performance against Brighton & Hove Albion in late September.

Palmer added his fifth assist of the league campaign during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest on Sunday, meaning he is now second in the assist standings behind Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka (seven).

The Blues No.20 has the most goal contributions of any player in Europe’s top five leagues this season and his €47 million price tag looks like a complete steal.

With 51 goals and assists since joining Chelsea from boyhood club Manchester City, Palmer has received plaudits aplenty and some have labelled him as the best player in the world.

Football.Critic agrees, with Palmer’s 99 rating the best of any footballer on the planet.

Michael Olise (Bayern Munich), Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid) and Kevin de Bruyne (Man City) all have an FC Player Form Rating of 98.

What has been said about Cole Palmer?

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher recently admitted that he believes Palmer is currently the best player in the Premier League.

He told Sky Sports: “Last season I was a little bit reticent to say that he was the best player in the Premier League. It actually felt like he was, but the fact that Chelsea hadn’t had such a great season.

“And I ended up going for Foden just above him and most people thought the same, as Foden got the two player of the year awards, but inside I felt he was the best player in the Premier League.

“On the back of last season and this season, if he carries on this again through this season, I think he is the best player in the Premier League, I do.”
