Jurgen Klopp’s next job CONFIRMED
Legendary Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has a new job lined up, with the German set to start his new role from January 1, 2025.
Klopp is set to become the new ‘Global Head of Soccer’ at the Red Bull group, according to Sky Sport Deutschland transfer expert Florian Plettenberg.
The German has been on a hiatus from the game since leaving Liverpool in the summer at the end of his contract, citing burnout and a need for a new challenge as his reasons for departure. He said he would not take on a new coaching role for a year and has proven as good as his word with this move into strategic management.
Klopp is said to have signed what is described as a “long-term contract” with the Red Bull group, however, there is an exit clause in the deal that would allow him to take charge of the Germany national team, which is currently headed up by Julian Nagelsmann.
Plettenberg reports: “From January, Klopp will advise all Red Bull teams (Leipzig, Salzburg, New York, etc.) on coaching matters, playing philosophy, development and transfers of talents/head coaches and more. Oliver Mintzlaff was determined to get Klopp.”
What will Klopp’s role at Red Bull entail?
Klopp will support the management of all the clubs in the Red Bull group. These include RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls, Red Bull Bragantino and Japanese third-tier club Omiya Ardija, which plays in the J3 League.
He will be responsible for developing the playing philosophy of the teams in the group and will help the clubs by using his networks across the world to both pick players and coaches for these clubs, Sky Sport Deutschland report.
Red Bull have been seeking to appoint Klopp for months and, as of January, will finally get their man.
