Arne Slot eyes €24m Zubimendi alternative
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot will continue his search for a midfielder and Tijjani Reijnders is thought to be a viable option, according to reports.
The club have decided to target the Serie A midfielder who was former manager Jurgen Klopp, according to TBR Football.
Liverpool had made offers for Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi during the summer but were unable to conclude a deal for the Spaniard. The club had been crying out for a No.6 but Slot has so far used Ryan Gravenberch, who failed to forge a regular spot under Klopp but so far been a revelation.

Indeed, the club want Reijnders of Milan but Tottenham Hotspur are also hoping to make a play for the Dutchman.
Reijnders joined Milan in 2023 for a fee worth €19m from AZ Alkmaar. However, it remains to be seen whether the Serie A giants will open the door for their midfielder to depart so soon after he put pen to paper. FootballTransfers' Expected Transfer Value (ETV) algorithm has the player worth €24m as of this month.
Spurs to battle Liverpool
A versatile midfielder who can play a box-to-box role and as a more advanced playmaker, Reijnders excels going forward but he is also not afraid to do the dirty work.

However, a recent report suggested that Milan will look to extend the contract of Reijnders. Corriere dello Sport revealed that Manchester City and Barcelona are also hot in pursuit but the Italian club hopes to fend off interested parties.
He is under contract until 2028 so Milan wish to further secure his future with the club. Barcelona attempted to persuade Reijnders to make the move to the Spanish club in 2023, however, he opted for a switch to Milan instead.
Man City, it is said, are looking for a replacement for Rodri, the recent Ballon d'Or winner, and see Reijnders as a viable replacement. The Spaniard has been linked with a move to Real Madrid but the recent debacle involving Vinicius Junior might have put paid to that idea for the foreseeable.
