Manchester United hiring 'dream target' Simone Inzaghi is completely 'impossible,' according to Italian media.

The Inter mastermind has emerged as one of the names most prominently linked with the Red Devils job amid the growing pressure on Erik ten Hag. Man Utd bosses are set to meet next week to discuss the manager's future, with Sunday's game against Aston Villa likely to be a deciding factor.

It is not yet set in stone that Ten Hag will be relieved of his duties next week, but an eventual sacking - whether now or some time down the line - is looking increasingly inevitable due to the club's regression after his promising first season in charge.

Simone Inzaghi has been described as Man Utd's 'dream target' after leading Inter to a Champions League final and Scudetto, but on Friday reports emerged that the Italian had turned down the job when approached by intermediaries.

Inzaghi to Man Utd impossible

Calciomercato has now provided an update on the situation and deemed a mid-season departure from Inter 'impossible.' The Italian outlet consulted Serie A's official rulebook to see whether a move to Man Utd would even be permitted.

Compared to other major European leagues, the Italian top flight (and LaLiga) has a fairly stringent rule that prohibits coaches from managing more than one team per season. Crucially, however, this rule only applies to Serie A sides.

The league or the Italian Federation can't stop coaches from managing foreign sides, so Inzaghi's move to Man Utd would technically be possible. However, the problem is that Inter have absolutely no intention to even entertain the idea of letting their successful coach go.

As Inzaghi does not have a release clause in his contract, Man Utd would have to sit down and negotiate with the Milan giants for the 48-year-old. Even if the former striker were keen on the move - which he evidently isn't - there is nothing the Red Devils could do to appoint him.
