Bruno Fernandes has hit out at Manchester United for selling young star Maxi Oyedele this summer.

Oyedele spent 12 years on the books at Man Utd as a youth player, and was very highly rated.

However, United made the decision to sell the 19-year-old this summer for just €600,000 to Polish side Legia Warsaw.

Oyedele has been a revelation at Legia, leading to him getting a call-up to the Poland national team.

He made his debut for Poland on Saturday in the UEFA Nations League match against Portugal.

And in a damning indictment of United’s decision to sell, Legia Warsaw manager Goncalo Feio says that his Portuguese compatriot Bruno Fernandes was very critical of the sale.

What did Feio say about Oyedele?

“The quality on the ball, the personality, the character to keep the ball, the choices, when to lead, play with one touch,” Feio said of Oyedele.

“It is no coincidence that Bruno Fernandes, when we spoke to him, said he was shocked that United were letting him go, because he looked great in pre-season with Manchester.

“The level at which he plays is also related to the number of duels won in the central zone. His physical maturity, motor skills and ability to use his body are at a high level.

“Although I know that the fans and probably you, journalists, like what he does with the ball the most, Maxi gives us a very big physical presence in the midfield.”

United are reported to contain a sell-on clause but that will come as little consolation given their struggles in midfield this season.

It seems as if Oyedele could certainly have given a helping hand in that department, not to mention his potential that has impressed so many, including Bruno.

United have made a disastrous start to the 2024-25 season, languishing down in 14th position in the Premier League with manager Erik ten Hag on the brink of the sack.
