Arsenal have been linked to the attacker. They have been informed they must pay €50 million in order to sign the 27-year-old at the end of the season, according to Corriere dello Sport. The Italian outlet also say Atalanta will grant Lookman’s wishes to move to a bigger club at the end of the season.

It's thought that the Gunners believe that the Nigeria international as an ideal player for the left wing of Mikel Arteta’s 4-2-3-1 formation.

Lookman has emerged as one of Europe’s most admired players in 2024, scoring a legendary hattrick for Atalanta in the 3-0 Europa League final victory over Bayer Leverkusen. During the summer, it was reported that the former Everton man came very close to a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

And this season, he has continued his form in fine fashion. For Atalanta in Serie A, he has ten goal contributions in nine matches. As such, Manchester United have also been linked to the forward ahead of next year.

Where should Lookman move to?

FootballTransfers has looked at the data on Sci Sports and found that a move to Arsenal for Lookman would make more sense than the Red Devils. The North London club are third in the list of suitable clubs for the Nigerian, boasting a Club Fit score of 80, while United are 22nd with a Club Fit score of 69.

Playing time could be a huge factor in this. At Old Trafford, Lookman will have competition from the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes, and Mason Mount in Ruben Amorim's 3-4-3 system.

This is compared to the Gunners' Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. It could be argued that the London club are in the better option in this respect. Arteta's men will be looking to strengthen their forward line after such a dour start to the season that has seen them already fall out of the title race.

It's been a terrible start and blame has been pointed at the club after they decided not to improve on Kai Havertz as their main No.9.

Despite links to Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig and Newcastle's Alexander Isak, the club brought in Rahaeem Sterling on loan from Chelsea.
