The 23-year-old scored Chelsea’s equaliser in the 74th minute and he delivered a fantastic performance alongside Romeo Lavia in Enzo Maresca’s midfield pivot.

Caicedo was handed the Man of Match award by Sky Sports’ Gary Neville, while his 7.7 FootballCritic rating was the highest of any Chelsea player.

His tally of 17 attempted duels was the most of anyone on the pitch, with the Ecuadorian covering every blade of grass at Old Trafford in one of his best performances since joining Chelsea.

After the game, Caicedo was widely praised by the Sky Sports pundit panel, with Frank Lampard and Jamie Redknapp eager to heap praise on the Ecuador international.

What has been said about Moises Caicedo?

“It was [a great strike]... you’ve really got to focus,” Frank Lampard said when discussing the Chelsea star’s 74th minute goal.

“I don’t think it’s something he’s completely known for, he’s not known for doing that [but] I thought he had a great game. He was the best player on the pitch.”

Jamie Carragher added: “When he signed from Brighton, there was obviously a big fee, he didn’t settle very well [and he] struggled and there were a lot of question marks.

“But now you’re seeing the real Caicedo that we saw at Brighton where he was fantastic. He was everywhere, a little bit like [N’Golo] Kante, covering every blade of grass, going forward.

“The interception at the end of the game was so important for his team [and] I thought he was different class today, and that’s what you spend your big money on.

“I don’t think the balance with him and Enzo Fernandez is right; he looks much better with [Romeo] Lavia, who's got more pace and more energy to get around the pitch.”
