Chelsea have reportedly submitted several enquiries about Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak as they look to rival Arsenal for his signature in 2025.

The Sweden international still has over three years remaining on his current contract at Newcastle, but extension talks have flagged several issues and he could push to leave the club next year.

Arsenal are long-term admirers of the 25-year-old, while Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester City and Juventus have all been linked with a move for the forward in recent weeks.

However, Chelsea look set to become Arsenal’s biggest challengers in the race to sign Isak, with Enzo Maresca’s side eager to bolster their attacking options amid Christopher Nkunku’s uncertain future at the club.

The Blues have now “made enquiries” about Isak, according to TEAMtalk, as they look to test Newcastle’s resolve next summer.

The report claims that Newcastle would be open to negotiating a deal, although the Magpies will demand at least €138 million (£115m) to consider a sale - a fee that would make Isak the most expensive player in Premier League history.

Eddie Howe’s team have reportedly shortlisted Sporting CP goal machine Viktor Gyokeres as a potential replacement for Isak, while Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has also been named as an option over the past few weeks.

Alexander Isak to leave Newcastle?

Arsenal have reportedly identified Isak as their priority centre forward target, as they look to sign an upgrade on Kai Havertz, and a move to the Emirates Stadium appears to be the Sweden star’s most likely next step.

Although Chelsea are interested in a deal, the Blues are also eyeing Liam Delap and Evan Ferguson, while the aforementioned Osimhen is their preferred option.

In addition, Nicolas Jackson’s early season form suggests Chelsea could realistically end their pursuit of a new number nine in favour of bolstering other areas of the pitch.

Isak has five goals and two assists in 11 appearances across all competitions so far this campaign, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €67.9m.
