Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran is a player being watched by a number of clubs ahead of the January transfer window, with his spectacular scoring form having been noticed across Europe.

The Colombia international has earned a reputation as a super-sub for Unai Emery’s side, with the 20-year-old having already bagged eight goals this season, despite having been primarily used as a substitute.

With Ollie Watkins well established as Aston Villa’s front line No.9, clubs are hoping that a big-money offer might allow them to pick off the former Chicago Fire hitman.

Arsenal and Chelsea are two of the sides who have been linked with the young forward, with the Gunners in particular short of the type of pure No.9 that Duran is showing himself to be. Bayern Munich have also been linked with him.

But Aston Villa face another threat as they battle to retain their striker, with PSG having put the attacker top of their January transfer list, according to Fichajes.

Luis Enrique’s side are crying out for a scorer, with their Champions League lives hanging by a thread after a 2-1 loss to Atletico Madrid at home on Wednesday. That game typified their performance in the competition to date as they bossed the match, having 22 shots to their opponents’ four, yet they were unable to score.

Wastefulness has been a hallmark of PSG for several weeks now, and with Randal Kolo Muani apparently out of the picture, even being offered to clubs around Europe, and Goncalo Ramos laid up injured, they are simply crying out for some firepower. Indeed, it is suggested they will even give up Ramos to do a deal.

Duran would be an excellent addition to their squad.

How much is Jhon Duran worth?

Duran’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has exploded since the beginning of the season, when he was worth in the region of €7m.

This figure has since exploded to €31.6m, but would be even higher if he was earning more game time. Indeed, Watkins is almost keeping Duran at an artificially low figure, with Aston Villa liable to set an asking price far in excess of the player’s ETV, particularly since he is under contract until 2030.
