According to Sky Sports, the Reds have been put on red alert as Semenyo has scored five goals this season and Mbuemo has eight.

The new Liverpool recruitment team of Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are working hard on finding a replacement for Salaha, who is yet to sign fresh terms at Anfield.

Along with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Salah's deal is up in June 2025.

Semenyo is known to Hughes, who signed him for Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023. He has gone on to thrive in the Premier League, especially under head coach Andoni Iraola.

Mbeumo, meanwhile, has netted eight Premier League goals in nine this term. Recent news has suggested that Brentford have slapped a €70 million asking price on his head, while Newcastle are keen on the attacker as well.

Sky Germany have extensively reported that Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Omar Marmoush is another player liked by the Reds, while Sport Bild have also reported similarly. But Sky Sports has stated that "sources on Merseyside have refuted that he is of any interest to the club at this time.

Slot on trio's contracts

It comes after head coach Arne Slot was asked for an update on the contract situations surrounding Salah, Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk.

He replied: "For me the contract situation could become a problem if the players don't perform as well as they do at the moment," Slot said. "Of course, it's not sure that, if they perform not as good anymore, it has anything to do with their contract situation.

"At the moment all three of them are in a good place, all of them perform really, really, really well and there are ongoing discussions, as Virgil said, with the people he has to talk with, and that's not me as you know. I talk with him to him about other things.

"Let's wait and see but all what he said is completely right in that he doesn't exactly know what the future will be as long as he doesn't sign the contract yet."
