Manchester United could move for a strike in January, with four names reportedly on the club’s shortlist as Ruben Amorim aims to solve his side’s goalscoring woes.

Only three teams have scored less Premier League goals than United this season, with summer signing Joshua Zirkzee struggling since his €40 million signing and Rasmus Hojlund netting just once in eight games.

Marcus Rashford featured up front in Amorim’s first game and opened the scoring, however the new United boss admitted that the English forward playing through the middle was ‘not the best for him’.

Amorim has also insisted that he has faith in his attacking talent to provide goals and that he ‘doesn’t need new strikers to score’ but United are still considering all options behind the scenes.

A report from Sky Sport Germany has claimed that, along with a left-back, a striker is ‘to be signed’ in the winter, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani and Omar Marmoush of Frankfurt among the targets.

Victor Osimhen could also be considered as well as Victor Boniface of Bayer Leverkusen but a lot will come down to Amorim’s assessment and the budget allocated to him ahead of the winter.

Which striker could Man Utd land on?

Kolo Muani could be the most likely option due to PSG’s desire to get rid of their €95m man after just 18 months at the club, however the 25-year-old has ‘not been a hot topic’ at United despite his availability on loan or permanently.

Marmoush has been linked to Liverpool among other sides after a blistering start to this season which has seen the Egyptian net 11 goals and seven assists in 11 games, with Frankfurt reportedly placing a €50m-60m pricetag on him.

United are also said to be interested in Boniface but the 23-year-old would likely be the most expensive option for the Red Devils with more than three years remaining on his contract.

Osimhen is described as ‘the most prominent solution’ for United and Napoli would be open to cutting his loan short at Galatasaray if a permanent offer materialised, although they would likely demand his €75m release clause to sanction any deal.
