Geovany Quenda to Man Utd? Amorim drops MAJOR transfer hint
Ruben Amorim has hinted that Manchester United may decide against signing Sporting CP wonderkid Geovany Quenda in 2025.
The Red Devils have been monitoring Quenda for several months and the appointment of Amorim as Erik ten Hag’s successor has led to increased speculation of a move for the 17-year-old.
Amorim made Quenda a full time member of the Sporting first-team at the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign and he is now the club’s first-choice right wing-back, despite naturally being a winger.

The teenager has been heavily linked with a big-money Premier League transfer in 2025, amid his impressive recent form, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City all keeping tabs on his development in Portugal.
Man Utd have been labelled as the frontrunners in the race to sign him, however an Old Trafford switch may be unlikely given Amorim’s recent comments.
The new Red Devils head coach has insisted that he will not sign a single Sporting CP player during the January transfer window, while he has now revealed that Diogo Dalot’s long-term future is likely to be at right wing-back.

What has Ruben Amorim said?
“He [Dalot] is a great player,” Amorim admitted ahead of Man Utd’s Premier League clash against Everton on Sunday (as per The Mirror). “He can play both sides, which is perfect. He lives the game.
“He’s very powerful. We have to rotate him sometimes because he looks like he is always fresh but he’s not like that. He’s not a machine.”
Amorim added: “I think he plays better on the right and we will manage to put him also on the right. I expect the same as you saw in the past year - a great player that can help the team and is really a team player.”
With Dalot expected to play on the right flank in the near future, Man Utd could soon end their pursuit of Quenda.
Left wing-back has been identified as the club’s biggest issue and with Dalot, Amad Diallo, Noussair Mazraoui and even Antony able to play on the right, Man Utd may decide against submitting a formal offer for Quenda in 2025.
