Antony was on his way out of Manchester United under Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman's dismissal seemed like a new chance for the 24-year-old winger, but new head coach Ruben Amorim also has no need for the dribbler's presence.

According to the media, the Portuguese coach has seen enough and has instructed the club management to sell Antony as soon as possible.

The marriage between Manchester United and Antony has been anything but happy. In the summer of 2022, the Brazilian left Ajax in the wake of Ten Hag and signed with Manchester United, who paid a fixed amount of €95 million.

This transfer fee could still increase to a maximum of €105m through bonuses. Even if it does not, Antony is already the most expensive outgoing transfer of Ajax and the Eredivisie of all time.

Antony’s unhappy Man Utd stay

However, the Brazil international has been far from impressive in the Manchester United shirt and has never been able to live up to the expectations that came with his sky-high transfer fee.

The low point has been reached during the first half of this season. The winger has so far only managed to play 155 minutes, divided over 5 appearances. Of these, Antony was a starter only once.

Ten Hag's dismissal and Amorim's arrival were initially supposed to be a new chance for Antony, but according to the latest reports, the 39-year-old coach has seen enough after just a few days of working with the club.

Antony does not meet Amorim's standards, who has ordered Manchester United's management to “sell the winger to the highest bidder'.

Antony has a contract until mid-2027 and boasts an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €20m.

Previously, there was talk that Manchester United were aiming for a loan period, in which Antony could attract attention for a permanent transfer. Under Amorim, the plans seem to have changed, and the right winger seems to be allowed to leave Old Trafford for any reasonable offer.
