Manchester United wish to sign Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and a sensational report has even suggested that they have offered him a contract.

It's thought that the Red Devils have laid out a five-year contract at €8m net per season, including €1m in easily achievable bonuses, to the Georgia international.

Kvaratskhelia is one of the best left-wingers in the world but Napoli are known to play hard-ball with clubs interested in their players. Even over the summer, they refused to budge in their valuation of Victor Osimhen, and the striker's move to Chelsea collapsed.

Ruben Amorim has a big job on his hands. He joined the club in an official capacity earlier this month and presided over a 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

He is trying to install the 3-4-3 system he used at Sporting CP, but it will take some getting used to. Transfer targets for next year will be high on the agenda and the manager will work in cahoots with sporting director Dan Ashworth and director of recruitment Christopher Vivell.

Kvaratskhelia's contract

Kvaratskhelia is one that the club are looking at, according to Italian journalist Ciro Venerato via Tutto Napoli. The attacker and his current side are at a standoff over his new contract, which he is yet to sign.

“Napoli won’t go over €6m per year compared to the €1.8m he gets now,” he said. “The player, who was hurt by the no to PSG, who would have guaranteed €13m a year according to the agent, wants to be partly compensated with a figure closer to €10m and away from €6m.

“I think a renewal is sought for a farewell next year with a clause. The agent prefers it at €80m, while Napoli would like it close to €120m. Kvara has been proposed to Barça, Manchester United, Real Madrid, PSG again. But there are no negotiations in progress.

“There is disappointment on the part of De Laurentiis, this very cold ‘no’ he did not digest. So much so that since then, there has been no raise either on the salary or the clause.”

The Italian club rejected a lucrative offer from Paris St. Germain last summer but the 23-year-old is demanding more in wages than Napoli is prepared to offer.

United could have the edge on the Ligue 1 champions, however. They share a good relationship with Napoli following Scott McTominay’s sale last summer.
