The Times has reported the news off the back of the Sweden international's hat-trick against Manchester City on Tuesday night.

Among the clubs thought to be keen are Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal. Each club has been linked with a move for Gyokeres at some point this year, being one of the brightest strikers in Europe today.

The 26-year-old has a €100million (£83million) release clause in his contract with Sporting, which expires in 2028.

The Times states that "it is understood that the Sweden international has a gentleman’s agreement with Sporting to allow the player to leave next summer for a lower fee" and that "Sporting could accept a bid of between €75million-85million for Gyokeres."

Furthermore, the report states that Chelsea could be in the race and several Saudi Arabian clubs are also monitoring the player. Arsenal, for their money, are in desperate need of a No.9 having decided not to sign one over the summer - a move that has cost them so far.

United have been extensively linked to the striker owing to the fact that Ruben Amorim is heading to Old Trafford, with the club announcing the move last week.

But the Portuguese boss has put paid to that idea, saying that he would not be making any such move.

Amorim, after his final home game as a Sporting CP spoke toTNT Sports after the Sweden star had just completed his hat-trick, he explained: “I be funny with that [Gyokeres] at this moment. It was tough for me to leave. If I joke about that, I have problems.

“Viktor has to stay until the end of the season and then his life is going… maybe… somewhere else.”
