Real Madrid 'convinced' Man Utd could move for Alexander-Arnold alternative
Manchester United could have a significant part to play in the future of Trent Alexander-Arnold, with Real Madrid set to intensify their interest in the Liverpool star.
Alexander-Arnold is out of contract with the Reds at the end of the season and Real are hoping to convince the right-back to spurn efforts to renew his deal to join the Spanish giants on a free transfer.
Real are desperate to sign a new right-back after seeing captain Dani Carvajal suffer an ACL injury last month and Alexander-Arnold is likely to be the club’s main target.

This is partially due to the cost of Real’s alternative option, Pedro Porro, whom Tottenham are likely to put a pricetag of more than €70 million on, according to AS.
And the report also claims that people close to Porro are ‘convinced’ that the arrival of Ruben Amorim at Manchester United will eventually see an attempt to bring the Spaniard to Old Trafford.
Porro was considered one of Amorim’s star players at Sporting prior to his €47.5m transfer to Tottenham in 2023 and their relationship is described as being ‘excellent at all levels’, effectively leaving Real in a position of Alexander-Arnold or bust.
Tottenham hold cards in Porro talks
Porro is seen as a more balanced option to the attacking profile of Alexander-Arnold but Real are aware that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is ‘inflexible’, having signed Luka Modric and Gareth Bale from them in the past.
However, the 25-year-old is believed to ‘love’ the idea of playing for Real but a deal for Porro is seen as ‘difficult to overcome’ due to Tottenham’s power in negotiations.
A reunion with Amorim at United could also tempt Porro but Tottenham would be even less likely to consider selling their star wing back to a Premier League rival.
With Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui in the squad, United are unlikely to consider a transfer for Porro any time soon but a lot could depend on Amorim as he begins life in Manchester following his formal arrival this week.
