Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has sent potential Premier League suitors such as Chelsea and Arsenal a clear message over his plans for the January transfer window.

Osimhen was linked to a string of major clubs in the summer, but no deal could be brokered to take him from Napoli to a club in the ‘Big 5’ leagues.

Chelsea came closest. The Blues fought until the final hours of Deadline Day to capture the Nigeria international forward but they were ultimately unable to meet his wage expectations and no deal could be done.

Arsenal and PSG also closely followed the striker’s situation, with the Ligue 1 team even finding personal terms with the player only for the move to fall through because they could not agree a transfer fee with Napoli.

In the end, Osimhen made a surprise loan move to Galatasaray – a deal that can be ended during the January transfer window with a payment to the Super Lig club.

The 25-year-old has settled in with promise at Gala, scoring four goals and creating four more in just 483 minutes of action. He has had a direct hand in a goal every hour he has been on the field.

Osimhen makes January transfer decision

Given his decisiveness with Galatasaray and the fact that numerous big clubs are still following him, with Chelsea notably still considering the need for a No.9, transfer rumours continue to surround the player.

But he is eager to shut these down and in a show of loyalty to Galatasaray, Osimhen has said he will remain at the club for the duration of his loan spell.

Stopped by fans outside of the club’s training ground, he was asked if he might leave in January but instead replied: “Of course I’ll stay here until the end of the season!”

Osimhen’s comments may just send a few sporting directors around Europe back to the drawing board ahead of the transfer window.
