Chelsea are a shock move for Manchester United flop Antony, according to reports in Spain.

Antony joined the Red Devils for an incredible €95 million two years ago but has offered limited in return.

The winger followed Erik ten Hag from Ajax, in what was the club's biggest deal under the Dutchman. But despite his displays in the Netherlands, Antony has failed to find his feet in England. Now widespread reports suggest that United are looking to move him on in the January window.

And recruitment site SciSports has suggested that an offer from Chelsea would be a decent move. The Premier League club have spent over €1.2 billion on new signings since Clearlake Capital arrived in 2022, while they already have two right-wingers on their books in Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto, the latter of which arrived over the summer from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Chelsea have joined the race to sign him, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes. It would be a surprising move given their two senior players in that position. Furthermore, Estevao Willian will join the club when he turns 18 in 2025.

SciSports shows that Antony is a better player than Madueke and Neto, however. His development skill triumphs the pair, almost reaching 100, and his potential is at 110, which is a significant amount.

TeamTalk reported recently that Newcastle and Crystal Palace were keen on Antony. The Magpies are looking to bolster that flank with improvement needed on Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy. The Eagles, however, are looking to find a replacement for Michael Olise, who left for Bayern Munich in the summer.

Their report also states "how badly Man Utd chiefs view the Antony deal" and that his signing was "one the worst deals in the club’s entire 146-year history."

Antony has managed just 12 goals and five assists in 86 appearances for United in all competitions, which is a far cry from what would be expected after forking out a huge €95m for him. FootballTransfers' Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has the player as being worth €26.3m at present.
