The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent months, with Los Blancos eager to bring the Frenchman to the Santiago Bernabeu as part of a defensive rebuild.

However, PSG are also interested in Saliba and they have even lodged a €95m offer for the France international, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Luis Enrique’s side missed out on Leny Yoro this summer, with the 18-year-old joining Manchester United for an initial €62m instead, and they have now set their sights on completing a deal for Saliba next summer.

The Arsenal defender has just under three years remaining on his current contract at the Emirates Stadium, but the Gunners are expected to offer him a new deal in a bid to ward off interest from both Real Madrid and PSG.

Despite PSG’s recent offer, Arsenal are unlikely to sell Saliba, with the 23-year-old emerging as one of the best defenders in world football since returning to the club after three loan spells back in Ligue 1.

“Yeah, he's the first one I have in mind. He's a solid one, in possession I think he's doing a good job.”

Ferdinand then asked if Saliba reminded Van Dijk of himself and the Netherlands international admitted: “Yeah, maybe. I think, if I'm honest, when I was that age I was nowhere near what he is today. That's the beauty of football.”
