Arsenal are desperately trying to sign a striker this month.

The Gunners did not manage to add a centre-forward in the summer as top target Benjamin Sesko snubbed them in favour of extending his RB Leipzig contract. Rather than just bringing in someone to make up the numbers, Mikel Arteta opted not to sign anyone.

However, Arsenal's attacking output this season hasn't always been entirely convincing and Gabriel Jesus will miss the rest of the campaign after rupturing his ACL.

This has forced Arsenal to become active in the market as star man Bukayo Saka is also sidelined for several weeks. The north London giants have been linked with a host of names, some realistic, others not so much.

Below, FootballTransfers looks at five strikers Arsenal could sign in January...

Benjamin Sesko (RB Leipzig)

The Gunners' top target remains Leipzig sharpshooter Benjamin Sesko. Thus far, the Bundesliga side have, however, ruled out a January move, while the player himself does not appear too keen on leaving mid-season either.

Despite this, Arsenal recently attempted a new approach for the Slovenian and they evidently won't give up on their pursuit no matter how unlikely a move this winter is.

Dusan Vlahovic (Juventus)

Arsenal have a long-standing interest in Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic, who has been made available for transfer by the Italian giants due to their desire to get his massive wages off the books.

This prompted Arsenal to make a move, but the Old Lady knocked back the Gunners' approach as the offer on the table was only a loan. Talks continued but, as FootballTransfers revealed, did not reach a satisfactory conclusion and the deal is unlikely for now, but the interest remains.

Matheus Cunha (Wolves)

Wolves star Matheus Cunha appeared on the verge of extending his contract but he ultimately decided to wait and consider his options after fielding interest from several clubs, including Arsenal.

His club insist that the Brazilian is not for sale this month and FootballTransfers understands that there is a sizeable gap in Arsenal's valuation of Cunha and Wolves'.

However, we also revealed that personal terms would not be an issue and Cunha could be tempted into pushing for a move, with his body language in recent times seemingly proving that his head has been turned. Fabrizio Romano believes that the situation is 'one to watch.'

Igor Jesus (Botafogo)

Seemingly a wildcard option for Arsenal is Botafogo forward Igor Jesus. Arsenal's interest in the Brazilian has been confirmed by reputable sources and he may be the most attainable option this month.

The 23-year-old was integral as Botafogo enjoyed one of the best years in club history in 2024, winning their first-ever Copa Libertadores and only their third Serie A title.

Evan Ferguson (Brighton)

Finally, Arsenal have been keeping tabs on Brighton striker Evan Ferguson ever since his breakout season in 2022/23 and the Republic of Ireland international could be available this month.

Brighton aren't entirely convinced that they want to offload the youngster but the fact is that he has struggled for form and fitness over the past two seasons and may need a change of scenery.
