Newcastle have put an eye-watering €180 million price tag on Alexander Isak, according to a report.

When fit, the Swede is undoubtedly one of the Premier League's most entertaining and deadly strikers. Skilful, athletic and ruthless in front of goal, Isak is a sight to behold when he is at the peak of his powers.

Fortunately for Newcastle, he has been very reliable and consistent despite some injury problems since his €70m move from Real Sociedad in 2022. Last term, the 25-year-old hit a very impressive 25 goals across all competitions, with 21 of those strikes coming in 30 Premier League outings.

This season, Isak is scoring at a similar rate, currently boasting 11 goals in 16 top-flight appearances while also setting up his teammates four times, which is already more assists than he mustered last term.

Unsurprisingly, then, the Premier League's elite continues to take an interest in the Swede.

Arsenal are known admirers of Isak, with manager Mikel Arteta said to be a massive fan of the Newcastle sharpshooter due to his versatile skillset. Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in the past.

In the summer, Newcastle were emphatic in their stance that Isak was not for sale, but heading into 2025, there were some tentative suggestions that the player could be ready for a new challenge.

Transfer insider David Ornstein previously described the Magpies star as potentially one to watch for the upcoming summer window. However, according to The Telegraph, Newcastle's stance has not softened one bit.

Eddie Howe and company continue to insist that Isak is not for sale and the outlet reports that they have set a whopping €180 million price tag to ward off any potential suitors.

In the event of a club coughing up the money, it would shatter the Premier League's transfer record but in an age of elite clubs struggling with Profit and Sustainability Rules, Newcastle are right to feel relaxed about the situation.
