Amorim's position on Amad contract made clear
Ruben Amorim has made his thoughts clear on the future of Manchester United winger Amad Diallo, whose deal is up in June 2025.
The 39-year-old's tenure has seen the 22-year-old come in as the go-to right winger, with Antony now dropped to the bench following Erik ten Hag's exit. The Dutchman was reluctant to play the attacker, but it was a short-sighted move as Amad has been one of United's best players so far this campaign.
He is out of contract at the end of this season, but like most United players, his current deal does have an option to trigger a one-year extension. Talks are believed to be progressing well, with transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently saying that they are at an "advanced" stage.

Indeed, the youngster has impressed at right wing-back under Amorim, playing in the 3-4-3 system extremely well as he has been able to offer support in attack and defensively.
What did Amorim say about Amad's contract situation?
Amorim said at a recent press conference that he knows Amad is an important player for United and there is a mutual want to ensure that a new deal is sealed.
“I think he wants to stay and we want him to stay,” said Amorim. “So that's clear and we will find a solution.”

The United head coach then spoke about Amad's ability to play in a variety of roles, saying via the Mirror: “That's one of the great advantages of Amad, for me,” said Amorim. “He’s very good playing in that position, but also playing between the lines, because he has good control and he seems faster with the ball than without the ball.
“So he's capable of playing in both positions and he can play in different systems. In the future, maybe we will play in a different system, so he's the kind of player we need in the team.”
