Now TBRFootball have said that Atletico are among the clubs keen on Rashford, and a loan deal has been mooted.

The publication wrote: "The Wythenshawe-born winger dreams of playing in Spain, however, potential transfers to either Real Madrid or Barcelona do not lie in his destiny.

Rashford - what's been said?

On Tuesday, Rashford told Henry Winter: “For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”

He also said: “When I leave it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person.

“If I know that a situation is already bad I’m not going to make it worse. I’ve seen how other players have left in the past and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave I’ll make a statement and it will be from me.”

His head coach, however, was quick-witted when asked about Rashford's exit comments. “I think he's right, we have here a new challenge. It's a tough one. For me it's the biggest challenge in football,” Amorim said.

“This kind of club needs big talent and he is a big talent. He just needs to perform at the highest level.”

The head coach also revealed that he has yet to speak to the striker following the publication of the comments on X.

“We gave the lads a day off,” he said. “He’s out player and he’s ready for the next game.”
