Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola believes that Ruben Amorim has made an instant impact since his arrival at Manchester United in November.

Amorim, 39, was appointed as Erik ten Hag’s replacement following a stellar spell in charge of Sporting CP, but he has endured a mixed start to life at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have recorded four wins, one draw and three defeats during his eight matches at the helm, and they remain in the bottom half of the English top flight table.

Despite signing a contract extension after guiding the club to FA Cup glory in May, the aforementioned Ten Hag was sacked following Man Utd’s worst ever start to a Premier League season, in which they picked up just eight points from their opening seven matches.

Amorim’s demeanour has impressed both fans and pundits alike since he arrived at Old Trafford last month and Iraola believes the Portuguese tactician has already raised the ceiling of the Man Utd squad.

What has been said?

“I think they are different. They play in a different way, different system, different approach to the game,” Iraola told reporters (as per Manchester Evening News) during his pre-match press conference ahead of Bournemouth’s trip to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

“I think they keep the games more under control. They have raised their possession on the ball and they have really good patterns that fully allow them to dictate the game.

“It is going to be very difficult because I think they are playing very well, they are conceding very few chances, very few goals. They have very good defensive stats, they already had that with Ten Hag this season.

"They have signed also new defenders, good defenders, and improved from past season defensively overall and I think they are continuing [to improve] now.”
