Manchester United are interested in Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor, a second source has now confirmed.

The Red Devils' No.1 Andre Onana has recently become the subject of discussions after making back-to-back mistakes against Nottingham Forest and Viktoria Plzen.

Despite having enjoyed a decent season up to that point, questions were swiftly asked again of the Cameroonian, who needed a bit of time to find his feet and his form when he initially joined last year.

His errors have even given rise to some transfer speculation, though coach Ruben Amorim gave Onana a vote of confidence after Plzen. Still, the names of potential replacements are getting bandied about.

Man Utd want Victor

On Sunday, Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor began being linked with a surprising move to Man Utd, with Tottenham and other European clubs also said to be interested in the Brazilian.

Botafogo, for their part, are coming off a spectacular season, having recently claimed their first-ever Copa Libertadores and then winning Serie A for the first time in almost 30 years just a short period of time later.

CaughtOffside have now seemingly confirmed Man Utd's interest in Victor, claiming that he could be had on a bargain deal worth not more than just €10 million.

With No.2 Altay Bayindir facing an uncertain future, the 28-year-old could be brought in to provide competition for Onana and potentially even to replace him down the line.

However, even at just €10m, Man Utd may have to think twice about signing him considering that they will need all available funds to make January transfers given their precarious position with regard to financial regulations.

Bringing in a new goalkeeper is evidently not a pressing priority, so the money may be better spent elsewhere, such as for a left-back or an attacking player.
