Man Utd flop Antony offered January ESCAPE ROUTE

Real Betis could launch another attempt at loaning Manchester United flop Antony in January, according to Spanish media.

The Brazilian's time at Old Trafford has been nothing short of disastrous since his eye-catching €95 million transfer from Ajax in 2022. The former Eredivisie standout has failed to showcase the same performance levels in the Premier League and now finds himself on the outside looking in.

Erik ten Hag, the man who had pushed for his signing despite doubts from other club chiefs, was his main backer at Man Utd but even he lost faith in the 24-year-old earlier this year and only rarely used him toward the end of his reign.

New boss Ruben Amorim has insisted that he will try to help Antony get his confidence back up but it is clear that he does not have a long-term future at Man Utd. In fact, his time in England could come to an end - albeit only temporarily - as early as January.

Betis still keen on Antony

According to Spanish outlet ABC, Real Betis remain keen on the winger after their failed Deadline Day approach in the summer when they tried to swoop for Antony and Christian Eriksen.

The Seville-based club are desperate for offensive reinforcements in January and have continued to monitor Antony's situation in recent months. However, they are not blessed with particular affluence and therefore need Man Utd to make significant concessions.

Betis will only be able to loan Antony in a 'complex' deal that would require the Red Devils to keep paying a sizeable chunk of the player's salary. It is as yet unclear whether the Premier League side are willing to accept this.

The LaLiga side acknowledge that this is a 'very difficult' operation and are aware that Antony will also have other suitors in January.
