Man Utd make HUGE push for Alphonso Davies

Manchester United have reportedly ‘asked’ for a meeting with the entourage of Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, according to reports.

The Canada international is out of contract with the Bundesliga club at the end of the season and both sides have failed to come to terms over a new deal. It means, that as of January 2025, he will be allowed to speak with clubs outside of Germany about joining them in the summer.

Sport Bild’s chief reporter Christian Falk has now revealed that the Premier League giants wish to speak to Davies' agents over the possibility of moving to Old Trafford.

The full-back, who has also been extensively linked with a move to Real Madrid, has started all but two of his current sides' Bundesliga and Champions League matches so far this season and is widely considered to be one of the best in his position in the world.

Munich had proposed a five-year contract extension to Davies earlier this year, offering an annual salary exceeding €13 million. However, the defender wanted a figure close to €20m, and talks have been at a stalement ever since then.

Following the collapse in talks, Davies was linked with a switch to La Liga giants Real. The side aimed to persuade him to delay any contract renewal with Bayern, in a bid to entice him to Spain in the summer of 2025.

Will Davies stay at Bayern?

However, on Thursday Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg revealed that now the Bundesliga clubs have made strides in keeping the 24-year-old.

He posted on X, formerly known as Twitter: "FC Bayern have made significant progress regarding a contract extension with Alphonso #Davies beyond 2025."

"Negotiations are ongoing and positive, key figures already discussed. But some more details need to be clarified. The focus is on a new long-term contract. In terms of salary, Davies has made significant concessions to Bayern. Further crucial talks are set to take place before Christmas. Not a done deal yet."

"It appears that Davies has decided that his future could lie in Germany after all, though this could be a move to speed up any approach from United and Real also. Manchester United are also aware that Davies is likely to sign a new contract with Bayern."
