Man Utd Transfer News Today: Amad PROGRESS, Gyokeres BOOST, QUEUE to sign unwanted star
All the latest Manchester United transfer news, rumours and gossip, with Amad Diallo, Harry Maguire and Viktor Gyokeres making the headlines.
Amad Diallo contract ‘progress’
Manchester United are said to be taking steps towards ensuring Amad Diallo signs a new deal with the club.
Amad’s contract at Old Trafford expires in June 2025, and while the club have an option of an additional year, there is an appetite to ensure they do not need to use this insurance mechanism.
According to Sky Sports, United are “making progress” with regards a fresh deal for the former Atalanta star.
Speaking about the Amad case, Ruben Amorim said: “We will find a solution, yes. We want Amad to stay, he wants to stay. I think the feeling is now clear.”
Amorim offers Shaw backing
Ruben Amorim has backed Luke Shaw to have a future at Old Trafford, despite the injury issues of the left-back.
Speaking to Amazon Prime after the 2-0 loss to Arsenal, he said: “What I said to him, as a coach is, that since I am here, I saw him in the medical department.
“I saw him in the gym. I saw him losing weight. I saw him training.
“So he did everything right. Sometimes, when you have one or two injuries, it’s really hard to recover.
“If he continues with this behaviour, doing everything he can, I will be here. All the staff will be here, as long as it takes.
“We believe a lot in him, he’s so important for our team. For the future, I see in this team, Luke is a very important player for us.”
Harry Maguire: Clubs ‘queueing up’ to sign centre-back
Maguire is liable to be one of those players cast aside by Ruben Amorim in 2025, but the England defender is not short of suitors, according to Football Insider.
Among the clubs tipped to make a move for the centre-back are West Ham.
“There are Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on the situation,” Man Utd insider Mick Brown explained.
“Any club who wants a solid and experienced leader and centre-back will be interested in Harry Maguire. “He was England’s first-choice centre-back for years so he’s got so much experience.
“I was constantly on about him when I was at West Ham, but they made an offer of £20 million for him and it was quickly rejected.
“They’re still looking at singing a new centre-back now, so I’d expect that interest is still there.
“If United decide to let him go at the end of the season, there are clubs queuing up for his signature, so he won’t be short of options.”
Gyokeres boost as PSG say ‘no’
Manchester United’s prospects of signing Viktor Gyokeres have been enhanced by the news that PSG head coach Luis Enrique does not want the Sweden international at Parc des Princes.
Although sporting director Luis Campos is chasing a deal, the Spanish coach has caused friction within the club by telling his colleague that Gyokeres “would play very little” for PSG, FootMercato reports.
In turn, this boost the prospects of Man Utd on landing a player that head coach Amorim clearly loves.
