Man Utd Transfer News Today: Amorim REQUESTS first signing, Cunha BATTLE, BLOCKBUSTER deal
All the latest Manchester United transfer news, rumours and gossip, with the Red Devils getting updates on Nico Williams, Geovany Quenda and Alphonso Davies.
Nico Williams: Man Utd in seven-club battle for Arsenal target
Nico Williams might be having a disappointing campaign personally in Spain, but that has not halted the interest in the Athletic Club winger, with Manchester United and Arsenal among seven teams interested in signing the Euro 2024 star.
Barcelona attempted to raid the Bilbao side for Nico last summer but were knocked back by the player, who has no shortage of transfer options heading into 2025.
Man Utd and Arsenal are said to be frontrunners for Nico Williams along with Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham, Fichajes states. On top of this, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and PSG are said to be “watching developments with interest”, Fichajes reports.
With a release fee of €58 million and an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €52m, the 22-year-old looks well worth a punt at that price.
Amorim tell United to sign Quenda
Ruben Amorim has requested that Manchester United make Sporting CP winger Geovany Quenda his first signing at the club, Fichajes states.
Amorim handed the 17-year-old Quenda his senior debut at the beginning of this season and is said to rate the winger as one of “the most promising emerging talents” in Europe.
Previously, it had been claimed that Man Utd had already met with super-agent Jorge Mendes over the youngster.
Mendes, who notably works with Cristiano Ronaldo as well as current United stars Leny Yoro and Manuel Ugarte, is claimed to own a stake in Quenda and is set to work with his agents to land the teenager a lucrative transfer.
Man Utd on the lookout for new goalkeeper
Man Utd are aware that Altay Bayindir could leave the club in 2025 and they accept the fact that he is 'too good' to be a back-up option. The Red Devils are, therefore, actively scouring the goalkeeper market.
Alex Meret has been mooted as a potential option, but the Italy international is close to extending his contract with Napoli. Should Bayindir stay, Man Utd would still like to add a new shot-stopper to act as third-choice keeper.
Amad contract stalls
According to the Daily Express, Man Utd have been stalling in talks with Amad Diallo over a new contract despite his impressive performances under Ruben Amorim.
The head coach insisted on Wednesday that he was determined to keep the Ivorian at the club and that the player himself was keen to remain at Old Trafford.
Raum, Yildiz among host of options eyed
Sky Germany has provided a massive update on players on Man Utd's radar. It is claimed that RB Leipzig star David Raum is one of the options for Man Utd's left-back position and that the Red Devils were already keen on him in the summer, but a deal wasn't feasible at the time.
Additionally, the likes of Konrad Laimer, Leon Goretzka, Hugo Larsson and Antoni Milambo are on the club's midfield shortlist, while Juventus wonderkid Kenan Yildiz is hugely admired. However, the attacking midfielder is unlikely to leave Italy next year.
Alphonso Davies: Man Utd going all out to sign Real Madrid target
Manchester United are doing everything in their power to sign Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich as a free agent next summer, TeamTalk reports.
Davies, however, has been a long-term target for Real Madrid and so the Canada international promises to be a tough target to land.
With Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both suffering innumerable injury problems, though, this is a position that Ruben Amorim feels needs an addition, with Davies seen as a potential bargain arrival.
United are said to have been checking in on the full-back as they eye what could be a blockbuster deal, yet Real Madrid will not give up on him easily.
Barcelona rival Real Madrid for Dalot
Diogo Dalot could be on his way out of Man Utd, according to Caught Offside, which reports that Real Madrid and now Barcelona are both targeting the Portugal international.
Amorim, however, has previously expressed his admiration for the player, which casts doubt on the ability of the Spanish pair to capture a player he rates very highly.
Speaking to the media about Dalot, Amorim said: “[Dalot is] very powerful, we have to rotate him sometimes because he always looks fresh, but he is not like that, he is not a machine. I think he plays better on the right and we will manage to put him on the right.
“He is a very good player, very powerful that can play both sides and nowadays, a player that can play on both sides is perfect because you can put him in different positions.
“He is a great player who can help the team and he is really a team player, you can feel it in every way, he leads the game and he is very important for us."
Man Utd’s Kvaratskhelia hopes take a blow
Ruben Amorim’s hopes of landing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on a transfer from Napoli have suffered a major blow with the news that the Red Devils face major competition in the transfer market for the 23-year-old Georgia winger.
What’s worse for Man Utd, according to TBR Football, is that the competition comes from their two biggest rivals: Liverpool and Manchester City.
The Old Trafford club had previously appeared to be in pole position to sign the winger, rated at €100 million by Napoli, and had seemed to be primed to pay him €8m per year plus bonuses of €1m to sign him.
Now it appears touch and go whether they can fend off the competition to land Kvaratskhelia, whose contract at Napoli expires in 2027.
