Salah, 32, is due to become a free agent when his current deal at Anfield expires next summer, however he has reportedly penned fresh terms with Arne Slot’s side.

That is according to Aguero, who told Stake (as reported by FourFourTwo): “So, I’ve read a little about this over the past few hours.

“As I understand, Salah’s renewed [his] contract with Liverpool for two more seasons. I think this should clear all doubts about his future.

“He remains a key player and a fresh contract is the best news Liverpool could receive.”

What has Mohamed Salah said?

While Aguero claims that Salah has already signed a contract extension at Liverpool, the Egypt international has previously indicated that he is likely to leave Anfield next summer.

Last month, he told reporters (as per The Athletic): “We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club. I’m probably more out than in.

“You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.

“I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.”

When asked if he was disappointed that a formal offer hadn’t yet been tabled by Liverpool, Salah admitted: “Of course, yeah. I’m not going to retire soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed but we will see.”

Salah has scored a ridiculous 227 goals in 372 appearances for Liverpool, while he has won eight trophies during a seven-and-a-half year spell at Anfield.
