The younger brother of Arsenal's Jurrien Timber is expected to leave Feyenoord either in January or next summer, with both clubs keen to bolster their midfield options.

A versatile, all-action player, the 23-year-old Timber excels in high pressing, playmaking, and delivering long-range strikes. Remarkably, he is noted for having no significant weaknesses, making him a highly sought-after prospect.

Tottenham, under Ange Postecoglou, are willing to offload Yves Bissouma to make way for Timber, whose inconsistent performances since arriving from Brighton have frustrated fans.

Postecoglou has already held discussions with technical director Johan Lange about reinforcing the squad, and Timber's attributes make him an ideal fit. Indeed, he was previously linked to the North London side earlier this year.

Spurs’ rivalry with Arsenal will not pose a problem – the two brothers played for rival clubs Feyenoord and Ajax in the Eredivisie.

Liverpool are also monitoring Timber as a potential alternative to summer target Martín Zubimendi, who opted to stay at Real Sociedad. The Reds’ midfield rebuild, meanwhile, is still ongoing.

Quinten’s development under former Feyenoord manager Arne Slot was pivotal, with Timber contributing to the club's Eredivisie triumph in the 2022/23 season.

Tottenham may have a marginal edge in this transfer race because the brothers are known to be very close and living in the same city would be seen as a major benefit for the pair, who even shared a bedroom until recently.

Quentin Timber: The expert opinion

FootballTransfers’ Netherlands Imre Himmelbauer on Quentin Timber:

Timber is a powerful midfielder. He has a lot of stamina and he’s best described as a box-to-box midfielder.

He's good on the ball as well and has been one of the stand-out performers for Feyenoord in the last year or so.

He’s definitely most suited to the 'No.8 role', so as a central midfielder. When Feyenoord bought him in 2022, they tried playing him as a 6, but he got injured and his spot was subsequently taken by Mats Wieffer. In his second season, Arne Slot put him higher up the field and he really found his groove there.

His Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is €15.9 million, and while Liverpool and Tottenham will struggle to get him at that price point, he would be an interesting signing for either club.
