The transfer turmoil surrounding Ricardo Pepi is entering a new phase, as PSV have reportedly received an official bid of €20 million, according to reports.

An unnamed English side have approached the Eindhoven club for the 21-year-old striker. The only question is whether that will be enough to convince PSV to let Pepi, who is hungry for playing time leave.

With 13 goals in 22 matches, PSV may have the most effective reserve striker in Europe in Pepi. With Luuk de Jong in the ranks, Pepi knows that the chance of a permanent starting place in the short term is not realistic.

This makes a departure for the American international very attractive. Especially now that interest is growing rapidly and Pepi has appeared on the radar of several top clubs in Europe. However, PSV do not seem to be planning to simply cooperate with the departure of Pepi, who is still contracted until 2028.

Pepi to leave PSV?

Earlier, the Eindhovens Dagblad reported that there would be a club prepared to pay 'almost €20m euros' for Pepi. According to Rik Elfrink, that is not enough to convince PSV to let him leave: "If a club wants to sign Pepi and buy out his contract that runs until 2028, a lot more money will probably have to be put on the table."

In Eindhoven, they know that it will be difficult to keep Pepi happy in the current situation. Especially now that, according to the latest reports, there is actually a bid on the table from a club in the Premier League.

Elfrink wrote earlier that PSV are considering upgrading Pepi's contract. The Eindhoven team were in a similar situation last year with Johan Bakayoko. The Belgian attacker also had offers of a better fee at the time, writes Elfrink.

Pepi's performances are being closely followed by Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool, as reported earlier. It is still unclear whether any of these clubs have approached PSV, but the team from Eindhoven are aware of the interest.

Numerous amounts, demands and asking prices have been mentioned. According to reports from England, PSV would like to receive at least €25m for Pepi and AS came up with the version that €15m would be sufficient.

According to Elfrink, the latter was complete nonsense. "A departure for €15m, as suggested elsewhere, would be curious. God knows where it comes from", the PSV beat reporter wrote on X.
