Celtic are in talks with Arsenal over re-signing Kieran Tierney, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Scottish left-back is on his way out of north London. Signed by Unai Emery in 2019, Tierney eventually lost his place under Mikel Arteta and has become something of a forgotten man at Arsenal.

The 27-year-old has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, which have prevented him from putting up much of a fight for his place and he spent the previous campaign out on loan at Real Sociedad.

During his stint in Spain, Tierney openly admitted that it was difficult to see a way back at Arsenal. However, a summer exit did not materialise last year as he suffered an injury at Euro 2024 from which he only recently returned.

That only delayed the inevitable, though, with the former fan favourite now set for a triumphant return to his former stomping ground.

Tierney heading back to Celtic

At least that is according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports that Arsenal and Celtic are officially in talks over the left-back. Tierney is said to be keen on returning to the green and white side of Glasgow where he came through the academy and won five Scottish league titles.

It is a rumour that has swirled for some time ever since The Athletic reported that the Gunners had decided against triggering the one-year extension in his contract, confirming that Tierney would depart the club in 2025.

There has also been tentative interest from elsewhere, with the aforementioned Emery, now at Aston Villa, still thought to be a fan of the Scotsman but the emotional connection with Celtic appears to have trumped any other potential outcomes.

Tierney has made 125 appearances for Arsenal, notching five goals and 13 assists.
