Chelsea 'in talks' for INTRIGUING transfer for long-term target

Chelsea are still 'in talks' to make a major attacking signing, although a deal may end up occurring in the summer as opposed to this month as Enzo Maresca pushes for his preferred target.

The Blues have been notorious big spenders in recent windows, particularly in January, however this month their ability to bring in new players will likely first come down to exits.

Chelsea are looking to move on players such as Ben Chilwell and Axel Disasi but serious offers have not been forthcoming, although there has been interest in Christopher Nkunku and Renato Veiga.

Veiga’s future could prove instrumental in the pursuit of Karim Adeyemi, whom Chelsea have long-tracked and admired as a young, direct forward capable of playing on both wings.

According to BILD reporter Christian Falk, Chelsea could make a move for the Dortmund star, although the German side’s demands may see a deal structured for the summer when there is more spending power available to the Blues.

Dortmund have approached Chelsea over a transfer for Veiga this month and a loan offer is understood to have been submitted, with any future buyout clauses potentially impacting the likelihood of Adeyemi moving to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Will Chelsea make major moves in January?

Adeyemi has proven a talented yet frustrating youngster for Dortmund since moving to the Bundesliga giants in 2022 for €30 million and they would be open to his departure for the right price.

Napoli are also understood to be interested in the German international after agreeing to sell Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain but Dortmund’s asking price may prove too restrictive.

Chelsea are in the market for a forward, with interest also strong in Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel, but a deal for him or Adeyemi may only be possible on loan unless there is the departure of Nkunku or another big earner.

Currently, the most likely outcome may be Veiga’s exit to Dortmund, although the 21-year-old is reluctant to leave Chelsea permanently after only joining in the summer, with a loan move instead being discussed between the two sides.
