Tel has only mustered 15 starts for Bayern since his arrival from Stade Rennais in 2021, while he has made just 13 appearances for the club so far this season.

The 19-year-old has been an unused substitute on 14 occasions in all competitions since the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign, and Chelsea are now set to intensify their interest before the January transfer window closes.

Christopher Nkunku to join Bayern?

Christopher Nkunku was tipped to join Bayern in exchange for Tel in early January and the Bundesliga giants could rekindle their interest in the Chelsea star following news that Tel has decided to leave the club.

Nkunku has failed to usurp Cole Palmer or Nicolas Jackson in Enzo Maresca’s preferred starting XI and he is now open to leaving Stamford Bridge in search of regular football.

The 27-year-old’s current deal with the Blues isn’t due to expire until 2029, but he is widely expected to depart west London in 2025.
