Tel makes decision on Chelsea transfer amid Nkunku swap links
Mathys Tel has once again made it clear to Chelsea that he wants to stay at Bayern Munich, according to German media.
Earlier this week, news broke that the Blues had enquired about the availability of the French striker. The transfer speculation quickly built up a head of steam when it was later revealed that, during the talks, Bayern had expressed an interest in Christopher Nkunku.
Both players are unhappy about their respective situations, with Tel failing to get minutes in his favoured striker position due to the presence of Harry Kane, while Nkunku is primarily utilised in Chelsea's 'B Team' that competes in the Conference League and cup competitions.

There was talk of an informal 'swap' deal for the two forwards but in recent days, concrete news on the situation has been few and far between. Personal terms for Nkunku won't be an issue, but there have been no fresh talks between Chelsea and Bayern.
There are two reasons for this. For one, Chelsea are demanding a whopping €70 million for Nkunku, which Bayern are understandably reluctant to pay in January. Then, of course, there is Tel, and he is also currently blocking a deal.
Tel not keen on Chelsea
Mere days before Chelsea enquired, Tel had a lengthy clear-the-air talk with Bayern boss Vincent Kompany in which the latter assured the 19-year-old of a prominent place in his plans. Tel, for his part, expressed his commitment to Bayern.
So when Chelsea came calling, it was immediately clear that they would have to do a fair bit of convincing. According to Sky Germany, Tel has once again made it clear in recent days that his stance has not changed.

The Frenchman is not interested in leaving Bayern as things stand and this means that a move to Stamford Bridge is off the table for now. This, then, also complicates a potential transfer of Nkunku.
Bayern are still hopeful that they will be able to strike a deal before the February 3 deadline, but at this point, it appears as though they will shelve their interest until the summer.
As for Tel, unless Kompany fails to keep his promise and refuses to use him in the five games between now and Deadline Day, the youngster will remain at the Allianz Arena.
