Doubts emerge over Marmoush transfer as Man City told asking price
The future of Omar Marmoush continues to be uncertain after Eintracht Frankfurt revealed they have not held talks over his exit this month after telling Manchester City how much they want for their talismanic forward.
Marmoush has been among the most prolific forwards this season, grabbing 13 goals and seven assists in just 15 Bundesliga appearances, with only Egyptian compatriot Mohamed Salah producing more goal contributions across Europe’s major leagues.
The striker’s form has led to intense interest and Marmoush is believed to be Man City’s top target this month, with the 25-year-old also keen on the move.

However, Eintracht manager Dino Toppmoller has insisted he is continuing to plan for life with his star man, with the German side yet to have formal talks with City over a deal for Marmoush.
"Omar Marmoush is a very important player for us," Toppmöller said. "There's no contact between the clubs and, as long as that's not the case, we don't need to talk about it too much.
“He has made a good impression in training and will start on Saturday.”
Rivals believe Marmoush is ‘not at City’s level
Despite the two sides seemingly yet to open negotiations over Marmoush, City are understood to be in advanced talks with the player’s representatives over a move.
However, Frankfurt are believed to have placed an €80 million price tag on their top scorer in order to part ways with him mid-season, although City see €50-60m as a more reasonable price point, according to Sky Sports.
Marmoush’s ability to play all across the front line appears to have attracted City, who are looking to rejuvenate their side in the transfer window after their recent downturn in form.
Teams such as Liverpool were also rumoured to be interested in Marmoush but City will likely have a free run at the Egypt international if they moved for him this month.
Earlier this week, The Athletic reporter David Ornstein revealed that a number of recruitment specialists at top clubs are unconvinced of Marmoush’s ability at the highest level.
“I’ve spoken to a number of recruitment personnel at different clubs and around the game who have reservations on him, they don’t think he’s the required level for Manchester City,” Ornstein said on The Athletic’s weekly podcast.
“But it’s a game of opinions and City are going to have some of the cleverest minds in the market looking at situations like this.”
