Khusanov’s NIGHTMARE debut, Man Utd IGNITE Nkunku, SERIOUS Arsenal talks - FootballTransfers recap
Pep Guardiola has been blamed for Abdukodir Khusanov’s poor start at Manchester City, while Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea are all actively trying to make deals.
Pep criticised after Khusanov debut
While Omar Marmoush had a promising debut for Manchester City, Abdukodir Khusanov’s first game for the Premier League champions is one that he’ll want to forget.
The 20-year-old centre-back gave a goal away almost instantly and was loose with his passing as Chelsea took the lead at the Etihad Stadium. Although City fought back to win, Khusanov was booked and withdrawn early in the second half.
While Erling Haaland praised the impact of Marmoush, Pep Guardiola did not escape criticism for rushing the youngster in.
Man Utd back in for Nkunku
Manchester United are once again interested in signing Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea, with the Blues having put a €70 million price tag on his head.
A report from France indicates that Nkunku’s personal situation has deteriorated further at Stamford Bridge and he is determined to leave this January.
While Bayern Munich are also interested, a switch to either could be complicated.
Dorgu alternatives sought
Man Utd are starting to look at alternatives to Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu as their attempts to buy the Denmark international have repeatedly stumbled up against a €40m asking price from the Serie A side.
The Red Devils’ need for a left wing-back is well known and now they are ‘seriously considering’ moving for Alvaro Carreras of Benfica, who impressed in the Champions League against Barcelona last week.
Christensen wanted by Brentford
Barcelona centre-back Andreas Christensen has emerged as a player who could be sold by the Blaugrana to fund a move for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, and the door to such a deal has been opened by Brentford.
Barcelona value him around the €10-12m mark while the possibility of a loan deal is also available.
Arsenal in ‘serious’ transfer talks over Zinchenko
Arsenal may not be any closer to signing the striker that Mikel Arteta craves, yet the Gunners are poised to complete their first major January transfer, with Oleksandr Zinchenko on his way out.
Atletico Madrid have taken an interest in the left-sided star and are in the midst of “serious” talks over a transfer.
The Gunners want a transfer fee of €20m on the head of the Ukraine international, with Borussia Dortmund also tracking his situation.
