The reigning Premier League champions have been linked with a host of names in recent weeks, but the most persistent links have associated them with RC Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov and Eintracht Frankfurt sensation Omar Marmoush in the past few days.

Progress is being made but neither deal is as yet imminent.

Regarding Marmoush, who has so far been the best player in the Bundesliga this season, the interest from Man City has led to a change in plans. Previously, he was said to be willing to see out the season with Frankfurt but is now keen to move immediately due to the 'unique opportunity' presented to him.

Frankfurt are reportedly demanding as much as €60 million for the Egyptian and club-to-club talks are yet to take place. Discussions over personal terms are more advanced, with a contract until 2029 or 2030 on offer.

As for Khusanov, Lens are said to be demanding a fee in the region of €40m. City are considered the favourites for the 20-year-old's signature, but the race to sign the Uzbek international is not yet over, with other Premier League clubs still involved.

Lens already confirmed in December that Khusanov would be sold to the highest bidder this month after superagent Jorge Mendes had been given a 'mandate' to push through his exit.
