Man Utd flop Antony hit with 'TONS OF FINES'

Manchester United winger Antony has taken former club Ajax to court after being hit with 'tons of fines,' according to Dutch media.

The Brazilian seemingly can't catch a break. Antony's move from Ajax to Man Utd in 2022 was controversial, to say the least. His former coach Erik ten Hag forced through the transfer despite alleged doubts from the club's recruitment team.

Man Utd shelled out an inflated €95 million to land Antony, but to say that he has failed to live up to this price tag would be an understatement. The 24-year-old has been a major disappointment and his time at Old Trafford appears to be coming to an end already.

The Manchester giants, in need of funds, are open to offloading the winger and have filled interest from Spanish club Real Betis and Olympiacos in recent days, though there has been little progress so far.

Off the pitch, Antony has had to deal with allegations of abuse and, it seems, a legal battle with his former club.

Antony takes Ajax to court

According to Algemeen Dagblad, Antony has filed an arbitration case against Ajax, demanding the return of money he missed out on ahead of his move to Man Utd.

Ajax reportedly hit Antony with three substantial fines prior to his move and withheld 'hundreds of thousands of euros' in wages. The KNVB arbitration committee has confirmed that the case is ongoing but refused to provide more information.

The Dutch giants imposed fines on Antony when the winger refused to turn up for training after growing frustrated with the club's handling of the negotiations with Man Utd. It is claimed that Antony also refused to play in a match against Sparta Rotterdam despite being fit.

The dispute over the unpaid wages has been raging for two years, with Antony approaching the arbitration committee six months ago. A 'substantive hearing' of the case took place on Monday.
