Man Utd agree terms for first signing of the summer

Manchester United have agreed personal terms for Sporting Lisbon wonderkid Geovany Quenda and hope to make the winger their first signing of the summer.
Ben Jacobs reports that United have agreed terms with the 17-year-old and are now in talks with Sporting over a transfer fee.
The Portuguese wonderkid was handed his first team debut at Sporting CP by none other than Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim and he quickly established himself as an indispensable part of the side.

Capable of playing on either flank, the 17-year-old can be used as a wing-back and an attacker and this versatility appealed to Amorim, who needs offensive-minded and reliable wing-backs in his three-defender system.
Reports in Portugal over the last week have claimed that a €60 million deal for the teenager is already wrapped up for the summer window.
Jacobs reports that these reports are premature but he confirms that personal terms have been agreed.

“The player has agreed verbally personal terms. He’s waiting to see if the clubs pre-agree, or wait until the summer,” Jacobs told TalkSport.
“The price that Manchester United are looking at is €40m. Sporting want €60m, there’s a release clause of €100.
“If Manchester United can get this one done south of €60m, not only a good signing now and for the future, and a player Ruben Amorim knows really well, but potentially a deal that they can get without being forced, as they did with Rasmus Hojlund, to pay more than they ideally want to do.”
Amorim is aware that Man Utd need to strengthen heavily over the summer after a disastrous first three months in charge of the club.
United have dropped to 15th place in the Premier League after a dismal run of form that has led to Amorim’s job being under threat.
