Manchester United are expected to sign a new forward if Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho or Kobbie Mainoo leave the club this month.

Ruben Amorim is eager to sign reinforcements before the January window closes, but the Red Devils could be forced to offload a number of current stars in order to fund any transfer business.

The Daily Mail have reported that Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford), Matheus Cunha (Wolves), Liam Delap (Ipswich) and Jonathan David (Lille) are all being watched by the club ahead of a possible January bid.

All four players have been heavily linked with a number of top Premier League clubs in recent weeks, but Man Utd are eager to fight off significant competition to bring a new forward to the club this month.

Patrick Dorgu talks confirmed

Meanwhile, Man Utd are in talks to sign Lecce star Patrick Dorgu amid their search for a new left wing-back.

The Denmark international has also been linked with Chelsea and Napoli over the past few months, but Man Utd now appear to be the frontrunners to sign him in January.

Lecce president Sticchi Damiani has confirmed Man Utd’s interest in Dorgu, although the Serie A club are determined to retain their star man as they look to retain their status in the top flight of Italian football.

“The meeting went well, it was a cordial meeting,” Damiani told Sky Sport. “For us it is a satisfaction to sit at the table with Manchester United and talk about a player who comes from our Spring.

“It means that it is a remarkable growth path for the club and that we are very happy about.

“We explained to Manchester that our will at the moment is to try to keep our squad unchanged, retaining all the big ones, especially Dorgu.

“Despite being flattered by Manchester’s offer, for us the priority is the sporting result which is fundamental.”
