Nuno Mendes to Man Utd catches fire as PSG make transfer plan

Manchester United’s hopes of landing PSG left-back Nuno Mendes appear to be very real, with the Ligue 1 leaders making plans over a transfer.
Nuno Mendes had been expected to sign a new deal with the Parc des Princes side late in 2024, but this has been unexpectedly postponed.
The 22-year-old Portugal international left-back has been one of the standout performers for Luis Enrique’s side in recent months, producing two goals and two assists in 17 appearances this season.

As his new contract was unexpectedly delayed, rumours of a potential bid from Man Utd were building. Ruben Amorim is known to be seeking an attacking left wing-back to add to his Old Trafford squad, and there are few better around than Nuno Mendes.
With an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €39 million, a transfer agreement does not appear to be out of the question as his contract expires in 2026, giving PSG just six months to strike a deal with the talented youngster before being forced to consider offers for him.
Genuine doubt has emerged over the contract renewal of Nuno Mendes at PSG, particularly in light of Man Utd’s interest, and as such the club is making contingency plans for the future.
Balde to replace Nuno Mendes at PSG?
Luis Enrique is eyeing a raid on Barcelona to sign Alejandro Balde from the Camp Nou side, Relevo reports.
It states: “Nuno Mendes has a contract with PSG until 2026 and has not yet renewed. The talks are at a standstill and the shadow of Manchester United looms over him.
“With this in mind, a profile that the Parisian club is following in case Mendes leaves is that of Barcelona player Alejandro Balde. There are no negotiations or contacts. At the moment it is a hypothetical idea... for June.”
While the deal is not advanced, the very fact that PSG are having to consider such a move should be seen as good news for Man Utd’s hopes of landing Nuno Mendes, albeit it is a deal that can only be done in the summer.
