Ruben Amorim insists that Marcus Rashford's future at Manchester United 'depends more on him than on me.'

The player has admitted that he is open to a new challenge away from Man Utd, but that doesn't mean that he is desperate to leave his boyhood club. In an ideal world, Rashford would like to make it work at Old Trafford, but the prospects of this are growing increasingly slim.

Rashford returned to the Man Utd bench against Newcastle earlier in the week but did not get on the pitch and he will miss the derby clash with Liverpool on Sunday due to illness.

With Man Utd desperate to raise funds, there is a chance that Rashford has already played his last game for the club, although finding a permanent buyer may prove difficult this month, with the 27-year-old having already formally rejected a Saudi approach.

Amorim makes Rashford demand

Speaking to the media ahead of the game against Liverpool, Amorim was, inevitably, asked about Rashford's future and whether he could return to the Man Utd fold once he overcomes his illness.

In response, the 39-year-old insisted that it was entirely down to Rashford himself and how he would respond to these recent setbacks. "I already spoke a lot about Marcus, it depends more on him than on me," Amorim said.
