Man Utd Transfer News Today: NEW Rashford swap, Ornstein’s Mainoo BOMB, Osimhen UPDATE
All the latest Manchester United transfer news, rumours and gossip from around Old Trafford as the January window gathers speed and Ruben Amorim targets new signings.
Rashford swap reignited: Kvaratskhelia deal on the table
Man Utd have been locked in negotiations with Napoli over a potential swap deal involving Marcus Rashford, according to reports.
While they were previously targeting a deal involving Victor Osimhen, their attentions have switched to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the exciting Georgia international winger for the Serie A club, TeamTalk reports. United are said to have enquired over the player.
Kvaratskhelia will be out of contract at Napoli in 2026, and in the wake of Osimhen’s issues at the club there is a sense of urgency that these are concluded one way or the other. It appears that his priority is to sign a new deal rather than move away.
With the 23-year-old also carrying a knee injury, there are doubts over whether he could even depart in January.
Liverpool and PSG have also been tracking Kvaratskhelia.
Kobbie Mainoo sale not off the table – David Ornstein
Kobbie Mainoo is far from untouchable at Manchester United, with a sale of the England international not to be discounted, according to highly respected journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic.
He has said that more ‘pure profit’ sales of academy products could help ease Man Utd’s position with regards the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
“If a departure is going to happen [for Rashford], a sale in particular, maybe it’s more likely in the summer, but it would represent pure profit, something we hear about so much, because he was an academy graduate,” he said.
“In the same way that Kobbie Mainoo might be, he’s out of contract in 2027 – no news on a new deal.
“Alejandro Garnacho too, I don’t think anybody in that bracket is off the table. Who is, is somebody like Leny Yoro, like Amad Diallo – I think they are untouchable.
“In terms of Amorim, Manchester United’s hierarchy, they fully support him; they back him to lead this transformation of the club.”
Galatasaray confident of keeping ‘incredible’ Osimhen
Man Utd are one of numerous clubs linked with a move for Victor Osimhen this January, yet Galatasaray remain bullish over their prospects of keeping the Nigeria international.
Sky Sport Deutschland transfer news reporter Florian Plettenberg said: “Understand that Galatasaray Istanbul are currently ‘100%’ convinced that Victor Osimhen will NOT leave the club this winter.
“At the moment, there are also no negotiations taking place with other teams.
“13 goals and 5 assists this season yet. Incredible signing.”
Osimhen himself has previously said he intends to see out his one-year loan contract with the Istanbul giants.
Fabrizio Romano: Juventus pushing hard for Zirkzee
Football transfer news reporter Fabrizio Romano says that Serie A giants Juventus are “pushing hard” to sign Joshua Zirkzee.
Although the Netherlands international came off the bench against Liverpool, he has had a torrid time since moving to Man Utd from Bologna in the summer.
Now his former boss in Italy, Thiago Motta, is seeking to hook up with him once again as he seeks to increase the attacking options of his Juventus side.
CaughtOffside reports that Dusan Vlahovic could move to Old Trafford in a part-exchange deal.
Yoro is untouchable – Fabrizio Romano
Romano says that Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim already sees summer signing Leny Yoro as an “untouchable” player for the Red Devils.
Yoro was not named in the starting XI to face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, but Romano suggested that he was on the bench during the 2-2 draw because the club do not want to rush him back after a long injury.
Taking to X, he said: “Ruben Amorim and his staff are very happy with Leny Yoro and his development.
“Game time being managed now after long injury but club and staff very happy with Leny.
“He’s among few untouchable players at Man United.”
Yoro has played eight times for Man Utd since his €62 million summer switch from Lille.

Dani Olmo angry with Barcelona
Manchester United target Dani Olmo is angry with Barcelona’s handling of his registration and could depart the Camp Nou club on a free transfer this month, according to reports in Spain.
Spain international midfielder Olmo is reported furious with Barca’s lack of clarity towards his situation, which could see him prevented from playing any football in the second half of the campaign.
While there is a suggestion that he could sign for another club for six months and return to the Blaugrana on his old terms from 1 July, the Premier League is an attractive option for the 26-year-old, who could receive a sizeable pay offer.
It’s worth pointing out, however, that Olmo’s agent Andy Barra has previously indicated that the player has no plans to leave Barcelona.
PSG hint Nuno Mendes could move to Man Utd
Amorim’s hopes of strengthening the left side of his defence have received a boost with the news that PSG are looking at Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde.
Incumbent PSG left-back Nuno Mendes has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, and though he previously was said to be close to signing a new contract at Parc des Princes, talks have stalled.
With the Ligue 1 leaders studying alternatives, this is a suggestion that former Sporting CP defender Mendes could soon be on his way from the powerhouse in what would be a major coup for Amorim.
