Alexander Isak transfer race takes ANOTHER twist
Barcelona have reportedly rekindled their interest in Newcastle United star Alexander Isak as they search for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal over the past few months, with the Gunners actively monitoring his situation at St James’ Park amid their pursuit of a new centre forward.
However, Newcastle are expected to demand a British record transfer fee in order to part ways with Isak as Eddie Howe looks to retain the spine of his current first-team squad.

Arsenal are therefore expected to turn their attention to Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres, but Barcelona remain interested in bolstering their attack with the addition of Isak.
That is according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, who report that Isak has been identified as the Blaugrana’s ideal target due to his ability to play as a left winger and the fact he is well-equipped to eventually replace Lewandowski.
Barcelona are also interested in Luis Diaz, Rafael Leao and Marcus Rashford, although Isak is seen as a key transfer target, despite the club’s limited financial resources.

Arsenal urged to sign Alexander Isak
News of Barcelona’s renewed interest in Isak comes after Arsenal were urged to sign the Sweden international by club legend Paul Merson.
The former Gunners midfielder told Sky Sports News at the start of January: “If I was Arsenal and I had the money I would go out and buy Isak, I’d break the bank for him.
“I think he’s the best of the best and he takes Arsenal to another level.”
Isak still has three-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract at Newcastle, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €67.9m.
He has scored 15 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions so far this season, in addition to providing four assists.
